Wicked Angel was an old school metal band in the vein of Merciful Fate meets older Judas Priest.
We were signed with both RMG Records (Columbus Based Indie) and Noise Records (out of Berlin Germany).
Noise was a pretty large Indie label with bands like "Helloween" on their label.
We did one album titled "Heads Will Roll" which brought a 28 city 8 country tour of
Europe where we received air play on many radio stations and European MTV as well as
hundreds of magazine articles around the world.
Members included Rob Rose: Vocals - Vickie Rose (now with Hardwood: Columbus based): Guitar - Tony Pack: Bass - Jo Jo Fastrich: Drums - David Siffrit: Keys - and yours truly, Dwight Farmer on Guitar. Jo Jo Fastrich left the band shortly after the album was finished and Matt Miller took his place, did the tour with us and remained with us until the end.
We wound up in court with our US label (who still owed us money and wouldn't pay), lost everything to them (including the name Wicked Angel and all rights to the album and songs) and soon after... the band split.
Out of the ashes BoneShovel was born. Because of the lawsuit, members of Wicked Angel were not allowed to perform for a two year duration or the record company would get 50% of everything we made. So... The drummer (Matt), Bassist (Tony), Keyboardist (David which was also the owner of Metropolis Recording Studios in Columbus) and myself went into the studio (that was now situated in Davids house) and spent those two years writing a very angry album.
The album has 16 songs and has never been released. We took the album and hand delivered it to Noise Records in Germany after the 2 year "no play" clause was past, but all of the lawsuits that were thrown around by the US label (yes, Noise got hit with a suit as well... don't ask) made Noise a little nervous.
We actually played a show at the billiard club a few years later under the name "Zipperskin" which was formed with some great players: Drew Collins (Saddleback Shark): Vocals - Gil Graham (Saddleback Shark and many others): Bass - Dan Troup (Big Finger- Lotsa refferences as well!): Guitar - Matt Miller (Drums) and myself. That's as far as it went.
It seems that the album has been doomed to obscurity. It's sad for many reasons, not the least of which is that David Siffrit died shortly after the album was finished. It was his last involvement in a project after many years in the business as an incredible studio owner/producer/engineer/keyboardist and all around great guy. He is missed. Word has it that Rob Rose also died not long ago. We had not stayed in touch due to some bad things that went on in the band (Wicked Angel) but I hope his life was good after he left. No hard feelings here.
